Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of optimizing your content, entity signals, and trust signals so generative AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews cite and recommend your business in their answers. Unlike classic SEO, which aims to rank a link, GEO aims to get your brand named and cited inside the AI answer itself.

Will GEO replace SEO?
